This week we're featuring M&Him photography! They're a wedding video and photography duo who have an amazing eye and have a creative flare. We thought we'd ask M&Him about their thoughts on the wedding process in hopes to help you (or future you) to find the right photographer for you and your event. There's lots to thing about when it comes to the wedding process, and photography is one of them. We wanted to go straight to the pros to ask about their thoughts, what they do and why they do it! I (Raelene) have known Madison for a long time and she is a dear friend! Which makes it so fun to be featuring their husband and wife photography (and videography) duo!
Tell us about yourself// Dave and I have been married for almost 3 years. I am a local girl, while Dave is from Australia. We have been married for almost three years and it’s been amazing. We lived in Australia when we first got married and then decided to move back BC. We both love being in Vancouver so much! It’s our home. We work together as a husband and wife team doing photography and videography. Videography is something new to our services, but we love doing it! When you have a videographer everything gets captured! I love that I get to work with my husband, we really do life together everyday!
How did you get started// We started out just doing portrait session and had never even thought about doing weddings. Then we were at Dave’s cousin’s wedding and the photographer had bailed. We stepped up to fill in then I just fell in love with wedding photography! The funny thing is that I actually had to borrow a lense from a guest! After that a friend asked us to photograph their wedding and the rest is history!
What advice would you give a couple looking for a photographer// Don’t be afraid to ask questions. LOTS of them. Also look into various photographers and make sure that you are comfortable with the one you chose. Oh, and also look at their gallery because it will probably be pretty consistent to what you will get! It’s a big choice so take your time making your decision.
What is your favourite shot to take at a wedding// Gosh, that’s a hard one. I love just after they are leaving the ceremony, but there is also the first dance or when the dad gives the bride away. There is just so many choices. I would say it is a tie between those three! I also love when I get to take a photo that isn’t directed, it is just a natural shot of the couple!
Every photographer has a distinct style, flare and way of engaging with their clients. We hope that as you continue to search you're able to find the right fit for your big day!
