Happy New Year! Can you believe that it's already 2015? I can't quite wrap my mind around it, but here we go!
We're excited to share about this month's feature!
We have interviewed Meray Froese from My Reward Fitness, and she'll be guiding us with some great work-outs for all those brides, grooms, bridesmaids (let's be realistic, I always want to make sure I look my best when I'm a bridesmaid), or for those who have made it a goal to live a healthier lifestyle. Sometimes it can get overwhelming thinking about wanting to be healthy, but the problem is we just don't know where to start. So we thought we'd ask a professional to help guide us, and help introduce us into living a healthier lifestyle.
Join us for the next few Mondays as Meray runs us through some tips on nutrition and eating habits and shows us some new work out routines!
*Please note, this isn't at all about becoming skinnier or looking a certain way. For us personally, we love being properly educated so that we can learn to do it right. We didn't want another crash diet. We wanted to learn the benefits of exercise and healthy eating to help educate those who are in the same boat as us. We recognized that January is when health and fitness goals and resolutions are made, so we wanted to help properly equip you (and us!) so we went to a professional to help guide us.
Hey Meray, tell us a bit about yourself! //
I am married to my best friend Dallas, and we live in Fort Langley. I am a social butterfly, and find it hard going one day without seeing my friends! As cheesy as it may sound, my favourite hobby is exercising. The gym is like my playground. I go there, see lots of my close friends, chat with people, then put on my headphones and get into my own world for the next 90 minutes. It is the best stress reliever, and the best way to feel energized, motivated and accomplished.
What is My Reward Fitness? //
My Reward Fitness is a Personal Training company that specializes in both personal training and online nutrition and exercise coaching. No matter where you are located in the world, My Reward Fitness can help you achieve your fitness and health goals.
How did you get started with Personal Fitness Training? //
Growing up, I constantly struggled with my body image. I tried every crash diet, did excessive cardio, but nothing worked. When I was in University, I studied Human Kinetics, and took nutrition and strength and conditioning courses. I learned about weight training, and what it looks like to have a healthy, balanced diet. The more I studied about the science of exercise, the more I realized that I had discovered the secret to fat loss. I applied my studies to my own life, and I fell in love with exercise and healthy living. Learning how to have a balanced diet and lifestyle transformed my life. For the first time in years I learned how to love my body, and how to appreciate food without having it control me. This discovery motivated me to want to help other people get healthy, and learn how to love their bodies.
What do you love about your job? //
I love everything about my job! I love my clients, I love witnessing both physical and emotional transformations. I love seeing my clients gain confidence. I love teaching people about proper nutrition and the science of exercise, and I love learning more about nutrition and exercise. The best way to learn is by experimenting with different clients and myself.
How do you keep your clients encouraged, and help them succeed with their goals? //
All my clients check in with me once a week. They send me progress pictures, and a summary of their week. They are accountable to me, and I find that this is the best way to motivate them to stay on track and to continue to chase after their goals. Based on the information they give me, I either alter their program or keep them on the same program. Every client is different, and some clients require more motivation than others. I customize my coaching styles based on the client.
What does online coaching look like? //
All my clients receive a complimentary consultation. Depending on where the client is located, the consultation is either face-to-face or over the phone. I learn as much information as possible about my clients current health, their fitness and nutrition history and their goals. Based on the information they give me, I create a customized balanced nutrition and exercise program that will help my client achieve his or her goal. The program lays out exactly what the client should be eating for every meal of the day, and what exercises the client should do. As mentioned above, the client will do a weekly check-in to keep him or her accountable. This check-in helps me keep track of the clients progress, to make sure he or she is on track, and that the program is working. I alter the program based on the clients progress.
Check in next week as Meray guides us through proper nutrition tips, and work-out routines!
